Battlefield Baseball

30 Mar 2004 - Under General, Tech Talk By Mandrake

Yesterday, I went to a client’s of a client’s place to help them figure out why their elves in their system are not sending out all those emails. Well, first of all, I dun have any idea how their system works and just go there to poke around to see how their system works. In the end, its a case of “the system was changed by someone not involved”. So its the client’s client’s fault that the system was changed and not the client’s fault. Got me so far? Frankly, i didn’t do anything except I suspect the elves in the mail server somewhere was out drunk or something, hence no one receive emails.

Anyway, since the place was near my place, I returned home rather early. First time mom asked was.. “Why are you home so early?”.. probably the hidden question was.. “are you fired? are you well? or was it a holiday?” I suspect the reason she asked was because dinner wasn’t ready yet.

I watched a Japanese movie called “Battlefield baseball” last night. Think “Scary movie” with a baseball theme. Its crap I tell you, but its a funny piece of crap nonetheless.

ts about this guy who didn’t want to play baseball anymore coz he pitched so hard when he was young, that he killed his dad by pitching thru him.. Oh, this story was told to us when the hero broke out in song half way thru…

Anyway, his school wanted to recruit him to play against another school. That team looks like zombies. And basically its legal to kill anyone when you are playing on the field. First round, the field was full of fake torn up bodies and stuff like that. The characters are funny as well, you have this super ugly mother who forbid her son to play and locked him up in a small cage when she found out. In a flashback scene, she was this super babe.

I watched the above show at 150% the normal playback rate, since I don’t understand what they speak and just read the subtitles. So all the characters speak like they inhaled helium.. They speak like chipmunks.

Now I know why I have always been scared of baseball. Balls were meant to be kicked at (I mean that in terms of SOCCER!).

I’m a great fan of Bayern Munich. They made a lot of money for me.

Yeah I do support the German team. But I don’t watch the national league…kind of too lazy. The women’s soccer is fun tho ! At least this year they finished what he men couldn’t and brought home the world cup.
