Another World Altogether
I just got accepted into the world of Lineage 2. Basically its a massive multiplayer online(MMORPG) game which many players can interact with one another and the environment all at the same time. Well, I am just starting out as an elf and using some power to kill some dogs. Well, when I level to a good level, I will start exploring the ingame world. The graphic that they produced was really good.
The tribe used to be into another MMORPG called Anarchy Online. Its a sci-fi based game with the same concept as Lineage. You kill monsters and run missions to gain level. Anyway, the tribe was playing the game for about a year in 2001/2002. We formed up with a guild of Singaporean online and basically hang out there at night when we get home. At the beginning, we all were like drug addicts and can’t wait to get home and get online and explore the world within.
The most exciting point was when everyone found the illusive hard to find/buy plane. It was at this time that we fully explored the ingame world. Setting up expeditions and trips to unknown world, enemy terrorities.
Towards the end, the excitment wore off and we find that its quite unhealthy to put so much attention in it. One by one, we quitted the game although I believe the characters we created are still in it, waiting for us to come back.
However, I know of some people in the guild who are still actively playing the game. I think some of them had been at it for more than 2 years and some even gave up going out with their girlfriends just so they can play the game. Its like drugs I tell you.
Anyway, yesterday was fun, exploring new worlds, but I doubt it will be like when I was playing Anarchy Online, so fully involved.
I see you’re going down that road again… the road we turned our backs on so, so, so long ago.
