Pad Incinerator

24 Jun 2004 - Under General, Reminisce By Mandrake

Caleb’s post about this transparent toilet reminds me of this device that was in my house when I was staying in Australia.

Sanitary Pad Incinerator

Its a sanitary pad incinerator build right into my house. The actual location is in the toilet, right above the toilet bowl. What you do is that you put the used pad into the slot and it will fire up the burner when you close the door. The only tell-tale sign that someone had used it is a puff of smoke coming out of the small chimmy outside the house. I think the cleaning people comes weekly to dispose of the ashes. I tried it with tissue paper and it works. I think its a quite a good way to get rid of bodies if you can chop it up into small enough pieces…

The instruction on the incinerator says:

1) Pull upper handle forward
2) Place pad in aperture
3) Release handle

Warning: Do not place hand in aperture
DO NOT INSERT newspaper, letters or other materials into aperture.

Ooh. which part of AU u stayed at? I thought the weirdest thing was those weird incinerator in basins.

  8. Mandrake June 24, 2004 12:19 pm

    Melbourne..
Those in basins are not incinerator, right? Just those shredder thingy, that crushes your food you throw in before pumped into the sewage..
The first time I saw it, I was amazed and curious that I keep throwing food in for it to shred.

That’s the most bizzare things I’ve heard. I thought only the Japanese invented things like that!

  12. Mandrake June 24, 2004 6:35 pm

The Japanese probably has one that has an incinerator build-in now.

I am totally amazed lol. i never thought somebody would actually invent or install it, and I also don’t quite get the point of making such an effort about such a machine. and yeah, has something japanese to it !

I think it has to do with hygiene and laziness? The cleaner cleans the toilet once a week, and I guess they empty the rubbish bin once a week. So if there is a pad there…
