Coldness

16 Sep 2004 - Under General By Mandrake

I enjoy cold air, I love cold weather, especially when its around 14C. So whenever Singapore is raining at night, I love it. Its because you get to sleep in natural air at low temperature. I am one of those without air con in my house. For the past several years during June, I always say I wanted to buy coz of the heat wave, but I never did. Me and SD even went down all over the place to look for suitable ones, but when it comes to decision time, the weather had turn cool.

Room

The pic is of my room when I was studying, on the right, you can see the curtain and the window is open most of the time. Even in the dead of winter when the weather is like 4C outside. My heater is not on, I am not saving heater bills, but I just want to enjoy the cold. I have a high tolerance of it. Since my room is the only room in the entire house that is almost like the weather outside, people tends to walk very fast past my room when the door is open. They can feel the draft engulfing their warm bodies as they walked pass. The only time I turned on the heater is when I have people coming over to stay.

During the polytechnic days, no one dares to sit besides me in the computer lab as I had the super industry size aircon unit (taller and wider than a human and there are average 4 of those in one room) pointing next to me. They would be freezing dead in 5 mins.

Yesterday, in my class, I walked pass the thermosat and saw that it was at 25C and it felt kind of stuffy. So I turned it down to 18C and went back to sit after signing in. I don’t think anyone saw me doing that. During the mid lesson break, a couple of gals in front of me was wondering why it was that cold. One of them went to the thermosat and exclaim, “oh my gosh, its 18C!”… then she set it back to 25C. They were talking about it for 5mins and I just add dumb.. luckily the lesson ends pretty fast for the room to go back to a stuffy 25C again.

Now, if only Singapore is at a constant 18C.

You should move north, like Sweden or something.

Well, when I can, I will move to somewhere where the summer is like 18C.

I live with somebody like that and it’s hell !!! I am always rather cold and enjoy the heat. T has power over the main aircon switch at work and makes the whole company suffer under icy coldness.
