New Office

8 Nov 2004 - Under General By Mandrake

Today we started work in the new office. This is located 5 mins walk from the old one and its about 1 min walk from the nearest train station. It doesn’t affect me that much since I dun really take the train.

Anyway, we came in without any Internet Connection. Why must they make configuration the router and modem so damn difficult? So in the end, we had to spend some money to hire some “professional” help to get it down. Well, I don’t mind paying the money if it could be done earlier. He had to come down and call back to ask how to do things. Why can’t they just tell me on the phone how to get it done so we can get online faster?

This new office is about 2500 sqr feet, which is much better than the old one. We are all spread out on the entire floor with ample space in between. In fact, I think we can put more than nine 8″ pool tables in the empty spaces. No kidding.. The ceiling above me is about 5meters high. Evie suggested putting a disco ball, I see if I can get that first. The columns supporting the ceiling is unfinished concrete and so is the wall behind the receptionist’s desk. The entrence is a bright orange tunnel as seen in the pic.

We are all divided into cells of 4 located at the corners and behind us on the wall is a board made of glass to funtion like a whiteboard. Cool eh?

More pics to come when we clean it up and use a better camera. In the meantime, heres a preview.

okie.. just finished some Olympic events in the office. We had a “Office Chair Race”, “Furtherest you can go on a chair with one push”. Wonder whats next.. maybe “Who can jump over the beam above”? Already laid out the course for the “Office Rally”. Starts off from outside the conference room, past the main door, then thru to the other side and round the waiting room, after that, make a right turn at the pantry and fly thru the pantry area and come out into the discussion area, a sharp right will return to the starting point.. hmm.. not bad, now hopefully we don’t crash into the reception desk with all the nice round lights.

Look like you have very little sleep, just because you don’t look like u had a hangover. Run around with papers, make sure you’re waste paper basket is half full. Scatter pens and leave one un-capped at your desk when u go to the restroom. Keep asking questions, like “…when’s the client gonna be meeting us again?…ohh yea right” with that I-know-it-but-too-stressed-out-with-work look. Always hunch when typing, stare deeply into the screen…. doesn’t matter if it’s MSN, you look engaged in work. Here’s a few to start with… helpful?

my appologies for the typo’s. replace “because” with “be careful”, “you’re” with “your”. Brains half dead.
