Food for thoughts
Cowboy caleb and Powerpuff’s post regarding home cooked food reminded me of the days when I had to actually cook my own food daily. I think people who cooks for themselves will probably understand the chores of it all.
I have a passion for food. I like to cook, but the cooked food might not be nice all the time, but the thing is to learn from it. Actually, I think one have to keep practising cooking like all things, else the skill would not stay. I tried cooking Seasame Ginger Chicken recently and it wasn’t that nice, at least not up to my own standard. I blame it on the unfamiliarization of the kitchen I was in. ha.. This was a dish I’ve done quite a bit of times, but its been a while I guess.
When I was studying, my friends and I would stay up late to chat and just idle by. They would study till 2am and then after a mass ICQ message, come out of their rooms and gather in the kitchen for a late supper before going back to study till day break. On some occassion, we would conjour up some pancakes in the middle of the night just to ease the monotomy. Once, I was so bored after studying, I went to bake bread during midnight and then went around distributing it to friends around the campus.

Nothing taste as good as homemade pancakes.
The above was “created” by a friend who loves experimenting with food. Its a mushy pancake topped with strawberry jam, I think.
Dinner is usually a group affair, the group would be separated into two and take turns cooking and washing thru the week. As days go by, you tend to notice that the quality of the cooked food improves and its more edible.
Its not that easy to cook for at least 6 people and keep the food hot at the same time. If you are slow enough, when the last dish is done, the first dish would had turn cold and this is bad.

Left over chicken corn soup for late night supper with overdone pancakes.
I miss the time when we would just sit around the kitchen table top and just chit chat away. Those were the days.

Did you make those pancakes yourself? Looks like you did a good job! Perhaps you can make me some tonight.
Oh…I gotta stop posting our private affairs on your blog.
I can only respect those who have fun cooking. It’s just too many unpleasant things connected to it. I do it, okay, but it’s not like it could be my hobby. I do love to make party platters, though ! Once a year lol…
