Watch a movie, pay more
Heard from the news on the radio that movie tickets are increasing in price again. Can’t remember when the last time it was increased but this time, its from $0.50 to $1.00 depending on cinemas. Not sure whether the info is in the Straits Times but its not in today’s Today.
Anyway, now that they are clamping down on pirated DVD/VCD locally and also probably going to catch those who download movies in Singapore in the next few months with the new copyright law being enforced since the begining of this year, they probably think its a good idea to start charging more.
I think the movie ticket prices here are catching up to the one in UK, US and Australia. It cost around AUD12 to catch a movie down under the last time I was there.
Very soon, people would start to buy more original DVD liao then to watch TV. SGD30 gets you a show, and you can watch more than 1 time with more people. Cost effective too.
The reasons given for the hike was the GST increase and the charges credit card companies imposed. I think they should just ask those paying via credit card to pay the extra than a blanket hike.
Somemore if I pay via credit card when I order online, I am already paying service charges, doesn’t part of this money goes to the credit card companies?
point of the post? Stupid reason given.. watch less movie..

That’s it….in protest, as of today …I shall download 5 movies every night!
It’ll just make people buy more pirated DVD, me think
Times like tis I really hate bein in Singapore.. *grumble*
it was reported in ST today. i’m boycotting movies now. in fact i only watched 1 movie in cinema this year so far. my purchase of pirated dvd will increase from now on.
haha.. 75% of the comments deals with pirated stuff..

Yeah so KNS!
Those blardy movie operators, they stop us from bringing in our own drinks… then they suck us dry at the refreshment stand. And now they want to suck us even more for tickets. And sometimes their service sucks too (ie: movie stops, bad/no aircon, dirty seats).
And what’s up with the grand entrance into the theater but then after the movie, we are forced to take weird smelling, narrow exits out?
