My daughter

16 May 2005 - Under General, What if... By Mandrake

No, I don’t have a daughter..

but sometimes, when I do have a daughter and she is reaching 18, I wonder what would I tell her. Would I be a stubborn daddy and insist on her doing the things I want? Or would I be a dad who would go tattoo with her if she wants one.

Does my advices to her sounds like I am nagging? I don’t know, till I get a daughter.

Recently, most of my females friends are having problems with their life. They have been telling me what was the problem with their life. Its usually the same thing that most of the people might face, such as relationship, lack of relationship, jobs and friends.

Good friend I is casually dating a guy who fits her criteria for a husband. Its just the 2nd date, but she is having butterflies in her stomach. She is afraid that she might disappoint the current guy that she is seeing. I am listening by the sideline and just giving advices to her. I think she should try it out with the new guy and see how it goes since the current relationship is just starting too, no commitment kind.

Another friend is having problem at job and the relationship. She doesn’t know whether she should talk to her supervisor about her problem. All I can say is to ask her to solve the problem one by one, not altogether.

These are just some of the problems they face, well there are more.. I am not complaining that how come I have to solve their problems, but if they want to tell me and I am alright, I am free to listen.

Would I be saying the same thing to my daughter if she faces these problem too? Would she tell me just like my friends did?

Now, why do I say I want a daughter, instead of a son. Well, for one, I think the daughter would love their daddy more.. :P

Update: On the afternoon I wrote this, it suddenly came to me that Jackie Cheung wrote a book dedicated to his daughter too. In the book, he wrote about how he wishes to see her grow up and basically be there to provide her with the everything that he can. I don’t think this inspired this post though.

ehh, having a son is better as you can go to bed earlier. While having a daughter is not so bad, you may end up being like my dad who waits up for me till whatever time i come back.

Remember the time we went to Devils/SHITTY bar?

Lancerlord: Male problem easier to solve than females one.. Males tend to be able to let go more easily.

onelittletwit: not really, but the possibility is there.

    miche: be like daddy how?

cherub: thats true, its also like a retribution, eh?

    FF/aMuse: heh.. luckily I wasn’t like that..

Take note that most parents don’t have a clue of their kids lives.

  17. Jaschocolate May 17, 2005 8:29 am

Daughters tend to be more closer to the parents’ heart and will do touching things..
But that’s only half true for me.. haha.. my parents will be glad if i dont provoke them.. :p

I think having a older son and a younger daughter would be alright. That way her brother can help look out for her too.
