Internet Problem

20 May 2005 - Under General By Mandrake

I came home to find that my computer’s surfing and download speed had been drastically reduced. This shouldn’t happen to me since I am on a fast cable line. i can’t seems to recieve emails too, and I thought my hosting (liquidblade.com) was having problem..

An email to them revealed that apparently, a submarine cable near Phillipines was cut accidentally and the ships are there to repair it now. Go get them!
In the meantime, there seems to be no problem with the blogs, which is kind of strange.

A cable near the Phillipines can cause that? Wow, I’m so unaware of where the i-net comes from. Kind of like people don’t think about how the food actually lands on their dishes!

How can a cable near the Philippines affect the internet speed? Hmm.. Maybe they bluff la. Haha.

aneki: yeah, the Internet is everywhere..

gracey, ZenIth: well, my ISP uses the bandwidth of the cable that is near Philippines to connect to the sites in the US, and if that cable is down, bandwidth will be limited and everything will slow down.

Think of it as a traffic jam. If one main road is closed, the other roads will be affected too, right?

you know in my head, i always think of internet as a wireless thing flying in the air thats why is global /cross countries. so there’s actually cables here and there linking up the whole world????
