Happy Birthday Liquidblade.com
The domain liquidblade.com was registered 8 years ago today. Then, SD and me were students in our IT course. We wanted to get hold of a domain and park on it, and wait for a movie to come out which will have the word “Liquidblade” in it. Then we can sell it for profit! Unfortunately, there wasn’t any movies that used the name, not even Blade 4:Liquidblade.
We were trying to come up with a cool sounding domain, both without a form and with an edge in it. The most literal thing that I could think of is water and a knife. Water has no form while a knife has an edge, and thus is born liquidblade.com.
In the beginning, it was used to host our mini projects written in ASP and Cold Fusion. I wrote my own comment system when I was still hosting with blogger.com in 2001 after finding the limitation of those free comment system. I even wrote some applications to compare my lottery numbers for me automatically and another software to generate a list of words so that my office people can use it to guess some radio contest.
In early 2004, Cowboy Caleb suggested that we move to another cheaper yet more feature-filled hosting and this is how this new generation of Liquidblade came about. As of now, we have about 30 people hosting their blogs with us, some of which you may know.
Anyway, go to http://people.liquidblade.com and look thru 5 of those people who lingers around here. If you want, you can even do something similar and send it in, we will put it up. You don’t have to show your faces if you don’t want to.
As some of the bloggers want to keep their anonymity, the full facial shots are password protected.
