Mob Sister
They wrapped this poster of “Mob Sister” below around a pillar at IMM when I visited the place on Sat. From the poster, you can see that the cast for this movie is quite impressive with the likes of Simon Yan, Eric Tsng and the Anthony Wong.
From the poster, its a triad movie, I assume its probably about revenge and stuff, but the movie started with animated drawing of flowers. “Oh my, are we in for some movie”, I thought to myself. Now which triad movie starts with flowers?
My prediction was correct, this was going to be an artistic triad movie. I only found out the artistic part when I am in the movie.
I think the director spent a lot of time framing each shoot. Almost all are worthy to use as cover for some other stuff. You have contrasting colours, movements, postures.
Contrasting colours like in the last scene, the mobs had a run in with one another. All were using black cars and crushing into one another, I have no idea which side is which. Then finally they crushed into a big crate of fruits, oranges, watermelons, etc.. all give a contrasting colour.
Then you have movements, there were quite a bit of shoot like taking sunlight poking thru branches, or just taking the clouds as it floats thru the sky.
Then you have the characters standing looking cool, with the big ass temple behind their back.
Now tell me, which triad movie has clouds floating thru the sky?
I think the story is simple, not much depth, but the key thing is the photography.
I have one thing to complain though. whats the deal with the 25 years old looking man in a small little red cap!

Mob Sisters. I like this poster.
Anyway, after the movie, we retired to this place called I-chi ban tei for a late dinner. The tonkatsu ramen was to die for. The soup is thick and the ample shallot oil gives it a very nice smell. The pork with the slight strip of fat actually literally melts in your mouth.
Go and try it.

Tonkatsu Ramen with pork that melts in your mouth

TONKATUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha, a nice poster ! Very unique. but prok that melts in your mouth (and not in your hand?)…uh..I dunno….
er…and it’s posed like Da Vinci’s “last supper”, right? Only one person missing…the guy in the hat refers to….heck what do I know. I’m not even religious!
I’ll bet tis movie will be even better in cantonese
I’ve watched all Internal Affairs and also Jiang Hu. Feels tat the directors for these mob movies are getting better wif their shoots. Sometimes, a mob movie doesn’t have to be nothing but bloody fights.
i thk infernal affairs also have a big buddha temple + clouds floating pass - its e one that started this arty triad genre fashion.
