New season of bickering

25 Sep 2005 - Under General By Mandrake

The new season of The Apprentice has just started and right in the first episode, we are already seeing serious bickering. Right from the front, you can see one of the team ganging up on this person who seems to be giving out energy to the team. Right to the end when she tried to explain herself to Donald Trump. Unfortunately, she dug her own grave in the boardroom by saying something really stupid. I think this is the part I love to see most, people digging her own grave.

What this would teach the future Apprentice contestants is that no matter how disagree you are with the team leader or group, at least try your best to finish your job. If you can’t win them, join them.

Anyway, this new season has a twist to the exemption benefit of the team leader. The winning group must vote whether the team leader is good enough to be exempted. If not, he will still have to face the boardroom in the next round if he loses. I think this is good, one must learn to lead the group well.

Donald Trump did a “The Amazing Race” opening. The executives dressed up in their suit and heels, had to run around a golf course looking for a helicopter. The first team to reach it will have two members flown into NY to kickstart their project.

The last team to reach the finishing line might be eliminated

And then hot on the heels of the success of the Apprentice, you have The Apprentice: Martha Stewart.

No, she is not training an apprentice to do stock frauds or to dress your own cell in prison. This is like the original apprentice, but I think instead of dealing with the more corporate sense of the world, her organization deals more with the home sense. The contestants are tasked to re-write age old kids stories like Jack and the Beanstalk with a modern twist.

Instead of using Donald Trump’s trademark “You’re fired”, she just asked the contestant to leave the conference room. At least you be sure that the place will be nice and proper, just as Martha always is.

Remember, this is a conference room, not a boardroom

Martha Stewart is so scary. Last night they showed a tv movie with her, she was played by Cybil Sheperd (?). i’m glad she’s not my mom!
