The Moomba
My clients today treated my team to a good meal at The Moomba which is located at Boat Quay behind the McDonald’s. I had walked pass this restaurant for a while now and I always thought its an indian restaurant from the painting on the outside. A closer inspection when I was inside revealed that its actually decorated with painting and motif from the aborigine of Australia. So they serve western food instead of indian food.
We were the first few people to step in and was told that the menu is not ready yet. Apparently, they change the menu often to not have it printed and stuff in a laminated folder.
I ordered the foie gras on a bed of lentils for my appetizer, grilled Australian steak for the main course and a sticky date pudding for my dessert. This is the set and its around $37.
Some of the appetizers are oysters (my colleague had that), salad and the usual soup. Main includes small young chicken, fish, lamb ribs (my colleauge had that). I wanted to try the Hot Macademia Tart with ice cream, but the sticky date pudding won me over.
My colleague said that his oysters are very fresh and its really good. My foie gras is quite okay too, not too powdery. The steak was a bit overdone, I prefer mine Medium Rare, but I think they gave me medium instead. Its not that bad, but still, could had been better.
I think I prefer the sticky date pudding from the Project Blood Cafe at Paragon. The camarel just add the extra oomph to the sicky date pudding. Just nice for tea. The carrot cake there taste really good too.
No pic as its kind of weird to take pic of the food in front of the clients.
