Back 2
This trip was planned months in advance. My cousins had to arrange for air tickets for my family to fly back to Sarawak and more tickets for me to fly to Kota Kinabalu and then to Sandakan.
Its one of the furthest wedding I’ve attended so far.
Anyway, the trips were quite alright except that I learnt something about Air Asia. Never sit in the front. My parents are considered senior citizens so I can follow them to broad earlier than the rest of the other passengers. They choose to sit in the first few rows. Along with us are those who are a bit disabled (since disabled people are not welcome on budget flights) or those with kids.
Now, I have nothing against kids, but some of them are a terror when you are on the same flight with them. They will just scream their heads off or just make noise. And since they are not mine, I can’t do anything about it except maybe distract their guardians a bit and then lock them up in the lavatory.
Besides helping out with the weddings, I also chilled abit and enjoyed the food back home. Its been a while since I had the authentic famed Sarawak kolo mee. The one sold here locally paled in comparison. I miss the Sarawak laksa too. I was told the paste itself has more than 30 kind of spices inside it.
Sarawak had changed quite a bit since I last saw it. More roads, more cars and more traffic jams, but the food is still nice and the people as well.
Sabah or Kota Kinabalu had changed more than I anticipated the last time I visited it more than 9 years ago. Previously, it was a sleepy old town where I can walk within a day. Now there are more shopping centres, resorts and other touristy stuff.
More about these later. With pictures too
