Server died
One of the most dreaded things to hear when you are working in the IT industry. That probably means days/months or work gone or something like that. Its worse if you have something that is going to “LIVE” status.
My office’s 4-years old main server’s harddisk died today. It failed to boot up and I can’t salvage the data.
Luckily, the site that is going “LIVE” is hosted on another office server with its corresponding files on another backup.
At least its not stopping the site from being launched.
Only thing I can do now is to call the data recovery people. They give free evaluation on the condition of the harddisk. Once its done, the actual cost of recovering range from $500 to $3500.
Hope my data are okay.

Has your office not considered implementing backup or archive solution for servers? This is standard practice for important data.
