Goodbye Streetdirectory

22 Mar 2007 - Under General, Interesting Links, Tech Talk By Mandrake

Well, not totally goodbye, but more or less..

Currently, besides Streetdirectory.com, the other organization with street map of Singapore is LTA.
Streetdirectory has a service where they give you the direction. You can either opt for the free (ad sponsored) or paid service ($0.60) per trip.

It tells you approximately how long it takes and stuff like that. But if you choose the ad sponsored version, its literally cluttered with ads. I guess they have to make money somehow.

A few weeks ago, I saw that Google Maps has Singapore on its map. It also list out the various road names and stuff and the only thing lacking is to enable user to search for a particular road name.

Today, I came across http://maps.live.com/, MSN Live Maps. That one has street mapping all done up nicely. You just specify the start and end address and it will show you the road to take. I even tried putting a Malaysia location as a start address and its still working. Quite cool actually.

Check it out.
