Straits Times RSS feed

2 Jul 2007 - Under General By Mandrake

The Straits Times recently opened up certain portion of their sites to non paying members of the public.

I don’t read the site much except for the Forum page.

As an avid user of RSS feeds, I was looking for an available RSS feeds on the site and it turns out that its only available after you sign in. So now its either I must look for a feed reader that allows me to sign in or there is probably a sort of way to get to the feed somehow.

Since I am only interested in the forum, I used http://www.feedity.com/ to extract the html out and form the RSS feeds so that I can read it in my feed reader.

The application is easy to use. Just drop a page you want into the link and it will extract the necessary. You can even do minor tuning to get the feeds right. There was a bug a few days ago where the Straits Times page does not return anything after I fine tuned it. A quick email to the guy who maintain it solved that bug.
