Cleanup of feeds

8 Dec 2007 - Under General By Mandrake

Before Google Reader or even before the new Bloglines, I have been experimenting with various form of RSS readers. From those that needs installation on your computer to those that are installed on the server.

One thing about those that need to be installed on the computer is that you cannot really sync the feeds when you read it at home or at work. The only solution is to install one on the server. The best that I came across so far is Reblog.

Its simple to install and simple to use. I’ve grown to quite like it and there isn’t any bugs that I had encountered. For the past few years, the amount of data had been growing, so much so that its now 300MB in size. Now, having text that is 300MB is A LOT of text.

Anyway, today I decided to clean it up once and for all. I exported out all the feeds as a backup. Went thru all of them one by one and add them to Google Reader instead. At least I don’t have to worry about the growth of data in my own server now.

On the flip side, Google now has another piece of me. It knows what I like and what I don’t.
