Plumbing must be good business
I tried calling the plumbers that were advertised on Yellow pages and most of them got back to me saying they cannot make it today as they are fully booked. Others were more expensive. It cost at least $100 for them to come down.
The one I found quoted $60 for basic unchoking of pipes. However, when they came down, he told me the problem was more serious as the problem was deeper down the pipe. I have to agree coz I did some basic plumbing before I called the professional and I can’t find the problem.
They came with an industrial strength anti-choking device and proceeded to put their hand into the hole in the ground. This is to give the device a better fit into the hole so that it can go further down the pipe.
After 15mins of struggling, the pipe was finally unchoked. He quoted me $120 for the service but we managed to bargain down to $100. There is also a 3 months warranty thrown in.
