Advertlets didn’t renew their domain
If you came here directly to my blog and get re-directed to some ad site, its not me.
advertlets.com, one of the blog advertisers that I signed up with forgotten to renew their domain and its placed under Renewal Hold status.
This is bad overall for their reputation. They have thousands of people placing adspot on their blogs and this has to happen. Well, its apparent that someone either isn’t checking their emails or the email used to sign up the domain has been changed.
I happened to see this from hanneng.net

I just happen to check my website at 4pm (SG Time) & found that big disaster had happen to Advertlets. This is bad for Internet business owners.
No wonder I kept redirected to somewhere no matter which blog I read..
Advertlets is the one. This is going to be greater than the $1 issue! How can a company forgot to renew their domain!
its equally bad for the bloggers and such. how many people in ping.sg has advertlets? I was just clicking some ping.sg links and most of them got redirected.
I wonder what advertlets would do now?
Oh no. Someone got to give Josh a call quick.
Now, all domain owners will check their domain expiry date
lesson learn in hard way …
hotmail also forgotten to renew their domain once.
Hey guys, thanks for the sms. I have contacted Josh on this.
I was on msn with DK when the sms came in. I quickly went to check on BAK2u.com, cos cant remember when expired. 2012 heng.
But blog2u only 1 yr which just about to renew for another 7 years also.
Hotmail also? Before the acquisitions? I think MS will have renew it for like 500 years. haha
Josh just contacted me, apparently it was some hiccups on the renewal process. Not that they forgot to renew.
They working with the relevant company on this now.
Thanks Paddy for the clarification
the hotmail incident was a few years ago. its for the uk domain. another incident was passport.com
this problem with the domain renewal is causing headache for people.
seriously, try going to links in ping.sg and see how many get redirected.
Whatever it is, it is going to upset a lot of bloggers with so many of them forwarded to some unknown site.
One thing I learnt when googling on domain renewal, some were saying godaddy always sent a lot of news to their members and it got so much that many just block it. In the end, a lot of domain went down cos the renewal reminders got filtered off as well.
hi hi,
it happened to me yesterday too. some of my online pals also removed their ads off. caused alot of hoohaa.
