Whats your job history? What have you worked as before?
I have to say I’ve never worked in the fast food industry before, either as a counter staff or the back making burger.
I think my first part time job was a part time stint helping out at a restaurant that does catering. I would be in carrying all the hot food and stack them at the back of the van. Then I would follow the driver to the location and then set up the buffet table and get out of there. This goes on till its time to collect back the trays and drink containers. Its at this job that I realised a lot of food will go to waste and there is nothing I can do to help.
The highlight of this job was doing catering in the Istana for 3000 people and speeding across the Istana compound in a lorry making lots of noise.
My next job was a pool boy during my JC holidays. I had to open up the bar by the pool at a golf club and make coffee and tea for the uncles and aunties playing mahjong whole day. One good thing about this is that the food and drinks are on the house. The most interesting things that had happened was a topless lady sunbathing across from where I was sitting on a hot weekday afternoon.
My manager was this guy who had probably stopped cooking, but he still does consultant for the F&B industry. One day, while he was reading newspaper, one guy ordered a plate of fried rice. And since the cook was on leave, its up to him to fried some rice. Because he was disturbed from reading, he added extra MSG to the fried rice. evil…
