Cicada

7 Apr 2008 - Under General By Mandrake

A cicada is an insect that spends its time in the ground, when its time, it will climb up the tree and shed its skin and then mate and then die.

Well, Singapore has its share of cicada and I think the majority of them came out last week.

I could hear the high pitch sound that they made from a very far distance away. Actually, if you didn’t notice it, you probably won’t register it in your head. But once you are aware of the sound they made, you will always notice it in the background.

I told Ma Belle this and immediately she noticed it and then cursed me for bringing it to her attention. heh heh.

Anyway, today I didn’t hear much of the noise, I think they probably mated and died.

Heres an image of how they shed their skin.
