Working from home

30 May 2008 - Under General By Mandrake

What does it feels like working from home?

Well, it feels almost the same, except I would say it is a bit tougher. There are simply too much distractions sometimes that will try to lure me away from the desk. It takes pure will power to come back to work instead of heading straight to bed for a nap.

Overall, I would say its quite alright to work from home. I have a desk, laptop and the fan. I don’t have the benefit of the aircon anymore so sometimes its quite warm in the afternoon. Its nothing a good shower cannot handle.

Also, working from home allows me to do more things than I can do if I work in the office. Its good to be able to go to the post office or take care of the little or elder ones when they are not feeling well. But of course I must plan my time so that it doesn’t eat into the project timing too much.

I guess everything really comes down to self control. I was feeling under the weather earlier this week, so its good that I can work a bit then go to the bed to lie down for a couple of hours.

Tomorrow I am going to try to work from outside in the afternoon after handling some errants for the company. Since this is a new company, I do have lots of stuff to settle like bank account, addresses, etc. So many things, so little time.

    Welcome to ‘home alone’ :)
It is never easy when there are too many things to distract but after a while … you be good!

Well, it can get rather drafty downstairs now that pants are optional. :P
