RAM for my PC

17 Jun 2008 - Under General By Mandrake

I signed up for Singnet broadband at the PC Show last year. With it, came an Acer Aspire series PC. This is one of those small and thin desktop client that looks like a thick book. There is a total of 512MB RAM on it. Now, if I am using Microsoft XP, I would be quite alright with it running common applications like Word or Excel. But the PC came with Vista and 512MB doesn’t cut it.

I finally bought extra RAM from the PC show recently to compliment the existing ones. Now the computer is quite snappy and everyone is happy.

Unfortunately, not everyone has a PC show to go to buy RAM and furthermore, the RAM you buy might not be compatible fully with what you have. I once bought extra RAM for a work PC and in the end, I had to switch out both old RAMs coz the new one is not compatible with it even though almost everything is the same.

If Adding Computer RAM is tought for you, you can read on how to do it or the difference between the RAMs here. I had to use a software from PC Wizard (Freeware) to determine my existing RAM. Turns out that mini PC was using a SODIMM (usually for notebooks) rather than the conventional RAMs for desktop PCs.

If you are overseas and would like to get compatible RAMs online, check out Memory Deal. They have RAMs that matched the PC/MAC manufacturers original RAM for full compatibility. They also teaches you how to Add IMAC Memory.

Last but not least, if you want memories for older PCs, you can also find them here. An example is the DDR PC2700 Memory for older generation PC/laptop. I’ve checked the price listed on the site against Singapore Hardwarezone Priceguide and found that the price is lesser or comparable.
