Hm… Why not?
Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE) has started a new campaign recently for 3 different reasons.
Firstly, why not increase Singapore’s attractiveness as a place of business.
Already Singapore was voted one of the fastest and easiest countries around the region to start a new business or to conduct business. The amount of red tapes that a person has to go thru has been reduced a lot. So if there are even more ways to increase the efficiency, why not? One of the earlier ideas that came about was the Online Business Licensing Service (OBLS). It lets businesses deal with licenses from just one portal. I assume that previously, it was more tedious, you had to go down to the bureau to settle it personally.
Secondly, why not nurture entrepreneurs of tomorrow?
Lets get this straight, the education in Singapore is very good academically. But over the last few years, the government had been trying to get people to be creative instead of just studying blindly. Whats the point of studying and memorizing academic text when you can’t apply it? Well, entrepreneurs sure don’t just study (some don’t do well even), but they sure can think creatively. They can think of a hole in the system and then they would try to fill the hole.
Who have heard of Duck Tour previously? If you want to visit the historical places in Singapore, you had to take a tour bus. The Duck Tour enhance it by adding the ability to tour the water area around Singapore.
Lastly, ACE wants to encourage more innovative and competitive businesses thru the campaign. One of the more competitive businesses that happened was the F1 night city race.
Besides bringing in tourist revenue, it also put the country on the global map, telling people, hey look at us, we can do it too.
Singapore is a country with no natural resources, all it has is the people and the people are the one who will come out with new ideas.
Go join the ACE campaign contest here, who knows, your idea might win you $1000. Why not?
Although this is an advertisment for Blog2U, I like the idea of seeing ideas being appreciated and if possible, implemented.
