Are the restaurant food you eat came from the restaurant itself?
I was reading this article about Sysco being the dominant processed and unprocessed food producer in US. They are responsible for selling these food to fast food to high end restaurants. Some of these restaurants will just repack or reheat the food and sell it off as their own. An example would be a chocolate cake. Sysco would sell this at a low price to various different outlets and these outlets will either repackage it by adding garnish or as is. There are still profit to be made. So from the consumer’s point of view, you are basically eating the same thing, but sold at different price.
This got me thinking. Are there such businesses in Singapore? As far as I know, I only know that Delifrance supplies bread and other pastries to hotels like Ritz Carlton, Conrad. They get the daily pastries products fresh from Delifrance every morning. So do not think for once that these bread are produced fresh in the hotel oven. Probably some special ones are, but I am sure not all.
I also know that Sunshine used to supply the pizza crust for Pizza Hut. I am not sure whether they are still doing it or there are other vendors.
So out of curiosity, what other stuff are pre-supplied to the restaurant chains?

as far as i know, the pizza crust is made by pizzahut themselves.
how did u know that they got it from sunshine??
I saw the packaging and the container from Sunshine inside the restaurant. The crusts are all prepacked in plastic and shipped to the restaurants.
strange… cos i know they made their own dough as i have seen the staff making the dough in the kitchen for myself…
did u see it recently or a few years back??
A few years back. Maybe they reverted back to making their own dough, that I am not sure though. I distinctively remember seeing the crust pre-made and delivered.
