I skinned my first fish!
After watching cooking shows for a long time, I finally skinned and filleted my first fish.
Now, most of you who had cooked a fish before probably bought it already filleted and cleaned. You just need to wash it and its ready to be cooked.
The small ones brought back a fish from their fishing expedition today. As time was short, the fish was not filleted nor cleaned properly. Its quite a big fish, about 13″ long.
First I had to descaled it. I had to prevent the scales from flying everywhere while doing it. Finally when the scales are mostly gone, I made a cut lengthwise from the top dorsal fin from the head to the tail fin. Then a small incision down the tail fin and finally another big cut along the bottom.
I put the cutting knife into the incision and cut along the spine of the fish. You need a very sharp knife for this else the fish meat would be messed up.
Once these cuts are done, you can peel the meat off the bones and repeat the same thing on the other side.

Hercules! Hercules!
dont look down on me ok!
