ODAC Part 2
This continues from Part 1.
Most of the time, we were taught basic stuff like knots, ropes, camp stuff, etc by our seniors. As our group is small, we would normally all be attending the lessons and learn from the seniors. Since we are a small group, our seniors more or less try to teach us everything.
We went for trekking in various parts of Malaysia, learning the routes and organization from these seniors. Note that these seniors are only a year older than us. I would say out of the 30 odd people, only a handful are more dedicated.
The thing is that our teacher in charge was an academic teacher. She seldom participate in the activities or planned for it. Its more of like us seeking her permission in certain things and she approved it for us.
Things changed when we were allocated about 15 spots for the Outward Bound School’s 9 days course. Since we had only 7 people, we opened up the position to the general population. One criteria is that they must join the club in order to go for the school. And just like that, our number increased from 7 to 15.
Its good perhaps because we already know most of them since they are mostly from my Science stream. We had quite a bit of fun in OBS for the next 9 days. That alone is another story. After the course had finished, the 8 of them still stayed in the club.
